Free Resources for Starting a Business

Naming Your Business

Every business first starts up as an idea. This idea usually fills a need, provides a new product or service, or is simply a manifestation of a someones’ lifelong dream. Naming this business could be one of your biggest business decisions.

Here are six tips for naming your business:

  1. The name needs to sound good when it’s said aloud
  2. Use a name that has meaning to it and conveys a benefit
  3. Beware of the initials
  4. Make sure you can trademark the name
  5. Is the .com available?
  6. Test it out on Google

Make it legal

Protect your business and your own assets, make it legal. This is not something we can cover in a small paragraph on setting up your business. Not only is every state different but so are most cities and counties. The good news is most of them have all the information you need on their websites. In addition to legal documents for you registering your company, you may need legal documents for employees and clients. Check out our Free Legal Documents page.
